Sydney Taxis Fares

Fares including Goods and Services Tax (GST) effective from 01 July 2014

Hiring Charge :              $3.60
or                                    $6.10
 10pm-6am Fridays, Saturdays and nights before
                                        public holidays

Distance Rate:
Rate 1:                            $2.19 per kilometre 
Day 6am-10pm daily
Rate 2:                            $2.63 per kilometre 
Night 10pm-6am daily

Network Booking fee:    $2.50 surcharge in addition to the fare.

Waiting or travelling under 26km/h94.4c per minute ($56.64c per hour)

Tolls and charges that apply to the Your journey, which will be added to the your fare.

For Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Harbour Tunnel journeys only, the return toll will be added.

Maxi Cabs

50% will be automatically added to the charges above (Day Rate 3 or
Night Rate 4) if:

• you request a maxi-cab and are not using a wheelchair,
• or the maxi-cab is pre-booked, regardless of the number of passengers,
• or there are 5 or more people in your group.

All Sydney Taxis accept a variety of payment methods, including:
• Cash
• RSL Cabplus
• Cabcharge, and
• Major credit and debit cards

To ensure accurate detailed receipts and for the security of your data, we recommend that all Cabcharge, credit and debit card payments are made using the Cabcharge electronic Fareway™ mobile EFTPOS terminal in the taxi.

Note: A 5% service fee applies to card payments.

On-Line Booking - Using ecabcall (register for a one button booking facility).

Call Back Service - When booking your cab give us your telephone number and we will call you on approach.

Parcel Delivery - Our fast efficient parcel delivery service is available for your organisation. Our service can used to deliver hospital pathology and reports, parcels and documents.

TTSS (Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme) - RSL Cabs participate in the concession scheme for passengers with disabilities.

Cabplus Corporate - Become a member and receive premium service whenever a booking is made. Use of a docket system with itemized accounts it is an ideal way of managing your transport costs.

Your Rights

As a taxi user you have the right to:
  • Decide on the route
  • Refuse multiple hiring
  • Have radio on or off
  • Have the air conditioning on or off
  • See the driver's photo identity card

Your driver should:

  • Be courteous and helpful
  • Know and obey all the traffic laws
  • Be neat, clean and tidy
  • Be wearing a uniform

Your driver should be:

  • Smoke fee
  • Clean and tidy
  • Well maintained


Your Responsibilities

As a taxis user you must:

  • Pay the correct fare, including any tolls and booking fees.
  • Not eat, drink or smoke in the taxi.
  • Not swear or act in an offensive way.
  • Wear a seatbelt, and ensure any person under your control who is under 16 years old is wearing a seat belt or other restraint which is properly adjusted and securely fastened.
  • Please let the driver know if you need change from $50 or more.
  • The driver can refuse to take you if you are drunk, on illegal drugs or unable to pay the estimated fare.
  • If you make a mess or damage the taxi, the driver can charge you up to $120 for the cost of cleaning up or costs applicable to damages caused.

Assistance Animals

Under the provisions of Regulation 64 (1) of the Point to Point Transport Regulation (2017) a taxi driver is not allowed to refuse to carry any assistance animal including guide dogs. Severe penalties apply.
